Abstract

Nowadays, Lifelong Learning is an  indispensable part of our lives. Due to several obstacles in face to face methods, new and flexible methods of Lifelong Learning have appeared. On-line courses and MOOCs are among the most popular. This presentation aims to outline some of the roles an Adult Educator has in a Music Technology Distance Learning Program, planned for music teachers. As a facilitator, the educator assists the participants in the acquisition of new knowledge and  skills. He /she supports them to find ways of  material  and time management and overcoming learning obstacles. Additionally, the educator animates interaction between the participants and  creates a sense of community. Moreover, he/she evaluates the program and provides the participants the suitable material, according to their goals and desires. In  a Music Technology training program, basic principles (sound and its characteristics, microphones, cables etc.) as well as basic functions of a D.A.W. should be included. Besides, the social role of  the  educator is of great significance: he/she promotes a positive attitude to Lifelong Learning, encourages artistic creation by means of Music Technology and connects the participants to relevant social institutions. Subsequently, Adult Education becomes to the benefit of our society and contributes to social coherence and stability.
