| Abstract |
The present poster introduces an innovative board game focusing on ancient Greek music, highlighting its connection to mythology and daily life. Through this game, participants can explore myths about the origin and evolution of music, familiarize themselves with ancient Greek musical instruments, and understand the attitudes and customs of ancient Greeks regarding music. Simultaneously, players develop communication, collaboration, strategic thinking and concentration skills in an enjoyable and interactive manner. Board games support the comprehension of knowledge, enhance interpersonal interactions among players and increase participants' motivation (Noda et al., 2019). In recent years, educational games have gained significant attention in education, as they facilitate the learning process, improve the educational environment, and stimulate interest, thereby boosting students' motivation, performance and skills (Λαδά, 2024). Although the market is saturated with books and games themed around ancient Greece and Greek mythology—topics that captivate students' interest from a preschool age—there is a notable absence of tools focusing on music and, more broadly, the arts of antiquity. Music is born within Greek mythology and gains its essence through various episodes, information, and imagery related to it. Despite the wealth of material and the intense interest from students, there is insufficient time and space in the educational curriculum to adequately cover such subjects. This specific board game aims to fill this gap. With both educational and entertaining elements, it serves as a learning and teaching tool for educators and can also be utilized within the family setting. A previous experimental application of a similar game (Αγγελίδου & Αγγελίδου, 2007) received positive feedback from teachers and students, leading to the development of this more challenging and interactive version, tailored to the needs and interests of the modern classroom. |
