| Abstract |
The traditional music ensemble "Roads of the Sea" of the Piraeus Music School, with the participation of the school's Dance Group and Choir B1, presented an interdisciplinary performance titled: "Skyros Anemoessa (Skyros of the Winds). Music and Literature" (MSP, 29.03.2025). A journey to Skyros with the island's unique musical repertoire as its main focus, as well as literary texts and poems from Kerasia Karali’s anthology "Skyros Anemoessa. The Island in Literature". Students from the music ensemble took on the role of narrators, recording excerpts from selected texts, which were then enriched with visuals and presented in video format. These narrations were connected with traditional songs of the island, which were performed, sung, or even danced by the students, forming the core of the event. The performance was further enhanced with certain stage actions, as well as the hosting on stage of two exceptional musicians: Nikos Skafidas from Skyros (on violin and singing) and Nikolas Angelopoulos (on lute). Together, they played a traditional Skyrian seated tune and collaborated with the music ensemble at the closing of the performance. The synthesis of all the above ultimately brought to the fore music, song, dance, tradition, costume, images, literature, poetry and history - all about Skyros - with the author and the two guest musicians present. A cultural tribute to the island, with many facets of interdisciplinary nature. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iE3FAMnLFvU |
